International Workshop in Wageningen

About 50 researchers and industrialists from seven countries (Nederland, Israel, Spain, Belgium, Serbia, Italy and the UK) participated in an international workshop which was held in Wageningen, Nederland, on 10-12 September 2015. The event was held as part of the CEREHA project and was organized by MIGAL Galilee Research Institute in cooperation with the Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR). The aim of the workshop was to promote collaborative research projects in the framework of Horizon 2020 programme.

The workshop opened with a short description of MIGAL and CEREHA and a presentation by the Wageningen International Helpdesk on Horizon 2020 programme and its opportunities. This was followed by short presentations of researchers from MIGAL/CEREHA on their innovative research projects and interest in further develop joint projects, by WUR researchers and other participating institutes who described their scientific work. During the second day, ten roundtable discussions were held in order to promote exchange of ideas and expertise on the challenges of water management, wastewater utilisation and smart irrigation, mushroom cultivation technologies and mushroom products, precision agriculture and innovative food technologies. The discussions focused on how those topics can be developed into new proposals for the Horizon 2020 calls. Participants in the roundtable discussions presented possibilities from different aspects and expertise as they were from diverse backgrounds - research institutes, industries, and consulting companies. The workshop was very successful and all expressed interest in exploring meaningful ways to collaborate in innovative projects.
