MIGAL is an interdisciplinary research institute located in the Upper Galilee that encourages innovative research and collaboration across scientific, industrial, agricultural, academic and technological specialties. Scientific staff at MIGAL include 90 PhDs and 190 research associates comprising postdocs, graduate students, and technicians, deployed in four departments: (i). Plant Sciences; (ii). Nutrition & Natural Products; (iii). Molecular and Computational Biosciences & Biotechnology; (iv). Precision Agriculture & Environmental Sciences.
MIGAL Institute is committed to excellence in interdisciplinary research aimed at providing the knowledge base, innovation and human resources needed to support economic growth and quality of life of all citizens, and people of the Eastern Galilee in particular, while caring for a sustainable environment. MIGAL is affiliated with the Faculty of Science and Technology of the Tel Hai College located nearby, leading the undergraduate and graduate programs in biotechnology, environmental, water, nutritional, food, computer and animal sciences (http://english.telhai.ac.il/academic-category/faculty-of-sciences-and-technology/). Position as Senior Research Scientist at MIGAL can be (and mostly is) accompanied with a faculty position at Tel Hai College.
The positions are open to outstanding candidates of all academic levels with the pertinent background. Applicants should have a basic knowledge of the Hebrew language (sufficient for communicating and teaching) and have a demonstrated leadership. Predisposition for multi and interdisciplinary collaboration is considered an advantage. Relevant postdoctoral experience is preferred. Relocation into the Galilee is prerequisite.

Annex to Call for Senior Research Scientist positions dated on October 1st, 2020
MIGAL-Galilee Research Institute is seeking for outstanding scientists at all academic levels in the following prioritized disciplinary areas:
-Organic Chemistry with focus on natural compounds chemistry. One or more of the following themes are prioritized: isolation and activity of health-promoting and food-related natural compounds, synthesis and semisynthesis of bioactive molecules, structure-activity relationships (SAR), metabolomics. The qualified candidate should have strong experience in modern analytical and spectroscopic technologies.
− Soil Chemistry - strong background and in-depth experience with one or more of the following themes is prioritized: nutrients modeling, fertilizer and/or pesticides applications, precision agriculture methods including soil proximal survey techniques and multispectral analysis.
− Computational/Synthetic-Biology - Priority field include use of advanced computational methods for studying the operating principles of complex biological systems at various levels: from interand intra-cellular, through genetics and genomics, and down to metabolic pathways, biomolecular signaling networks, molecular evolution and microbial populations. Application of computational and experimental methodologies for protein design and engineering, metabolic engineering and production of small molecules in biological systems.
− Immunology, with background in either immunotherapy or vaccinology. Prioritized subjects are emerging methods of vaccine development for wide range protection, designing effective vaccine adjuvants to stimulate innate immunity, as well as active cellular immunotherapy for effective treatment and cure of diseases.
− Plant Sciences with focus on natural compounds for human health. Strong background and experience in the following themes are prioritized: botany, molecular biology, biochemistry and genetics.
− Plant Genomics, including areas such as evolution, development, physiology, molecular biology, ecology, and plant interactions with other organisms. We particularly welcome applicants with demonstrated research strengths in comparative genomics and/or functional genomics techniques that include but are not limited to phylogenomics, transcriptomics, phenomics, epigenomics and/or metagenomics. Expertise in bioinformatics is considered a significant advantage.
