The scope of our laboratory, the Laboratory for Human Health and Nutrition Sciences, as its name conveys, is human health and nutrition. We deal with the study of 1) endothelial function and how it is affected by diet and\or nutrients, as well as its influence on cardiovascular related diseases, 2) inflammation-related skin disease models and skin treatment with natural substances and 3) mechanisms involved in obesity, longevity and circadian physiology.
Projects include cellular mechanisms involved in endothelial function in patients after bariatric surgery; phytoestrogens as protective factors of the cardiovascular system in diabetes; albumin posttranslational modifications and their effects on endothelial dysfunction; a new biochemical pathway in blood pressure regulation (Dr. Andrea Szuchman-Sapir); isothiocyanates as antipsoriatic agents (Hila Yehuda), cellular and ex vivo models for inflammatory skin disorders (Dr. Karen Jackson).
