For decades, Tel-Hai College was a cornerstone of higher education in the Upper Galilee—training generations of students and building academic excellence in the North. In parallel, MIGAL grew as a regional research institute with deep expertise and strong ties to industry, agriculture, and public needs.
Long before Tel-Hai’s transition to university status was in sight, we operated as a single ecosystem: researchers and faculty working side by side, students gaining hands-on experience, and shared scientific infrastructure supporting ambitious research. Underpinning this collaboration was a shared commitment to the establishment of a university in Kiryat Shmona, recognizing its transformative potential for the region - strengthening talent pipelines, expanding research capacity, fostering innovation, and driving long-term economic growth.
Now that goal is becoming reality. The process of establishing Tel-Hai University of Kiryat Shmona in the Galilee has begun, marking a major milestone for the region. As part of this transition, MIGAL has become part of Tel-Hai University - positioning us to accelerate the university’s applied research ecosystem.
In this new chapter, MIGAL will serve as the university’s commercialization and technology transfer engine: building partnerships, supporting applied research, and helping turn scientific insights into real-world solutions - so research doesn’t stop at discovery, but reaches industry, communities, and the region’s future.
