External And Internal Factors Affecting Growth and Sex Differentiation in European Eels, Anguilla anguilla

Prof. Gad Degani
Description
Many biological and environmental aspects are involved in growth and development, including internal and
external parameters and their interactions. In this mini-review, the relationship between environmental conditions
and growth is described, as well as the hormones involved in growth and sex differentiation in the European
eel, Anguilla anguilla. A model is proposed which describes the relationship between growth, sex hormones,
environment and sex determination. Some important results that support the proposed model are presented.
