Call for a Postdoctoral position in Food Science

Tel Hai College and MIGAL-Galilee Research Institute seek a highly motivated and talented
postdoctoral researcher to join our dynamic and collaborative Food Science Department
beginning Fall 2023. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in food science, food biochemistry,
food physics, or a related field, and will be interested in conducting cutting-edge research in one
of the prioritized areas described below. We seek motivated and dynamic scientists/faculty
members to break new ground across advanced and innovative aspects of food sciences and
technology, and related fields. The successful candidate will be able to apply for a permanent
tenure track position in the Food Science Department at the end of the post-doctoral period.


Prioritized Areas & Disciplines
The position is available, including but not limited to, food physics, food chemistry, food
safety/microbiology, food biochemistry, precision fermentation, food processing as it relates to
the composition, structure, and functionality of macromolecules and biopolymers, protein design
and engineering, bioactive compounds and natural products, renewable biopolymers as a building
block in advanced applications.


Requirements
The position is open for candidates with a Ph.D. degree in Food Science/Food
Biochemistry/Biotechnology, or related areas.
Applicants are expected to have a basic knowledge of the Hebrew language (sufficient for
communicating and teaching) and demonstrated leadership abilities. Predisposition for
interdisciplinary collaboration with record of accomplishments in basic and or applicative research
are considered an advantage. Candidates are expected to maintain a successful program of
research publications and grants; teach introductory and advanced courses in the Food Science
and Technology program at undergraduate and graduate levels; lead innovative research and
establish effective disciplinary and transdisciplinary collaborations; mentor and support graduate
and undergraduate students; contribute to departmental and institutional activities; connect with
stakeholders and/or industrial partners to strengthen research and/or educational programming.
Relocation to the Galilee is required. Both institutions, with the aid of the regional authorities, will
assist the recruited researchers in the relocation process.
