PhD student position: research project on bacteria on water flow in soil and root zone

We are seeking a dynamic PhD student to join our innovative interdisciplinary research project, focusing on the impact of bacteria on water flow in soil and the root zone.

Key Research Areas:

  • Investigating the role of various bacterial colony components on water and solute transport in heterogeneous porous media.
  • Understanding the effects of these components on root growth under water shortage conditions.
  • Utilizing molecular microbiology tools, microfluidic flow cell experiments, and physical water and solute transport analysis.

 
Supervisors:
Dr. Oshri Borgman (Department of Soil, Water, and Environment) and Dr. Elhanan Tzipilevich (Department of Plant Sciences) at MIGAL Galilee Research Institute in Kiryat Shmona and Tel-Hai College.
 
Start Date: Flexible
 
Job Requirements:

  • Master's degree in natural sciences, water sciences, soil and water sciences, environmental engineering, or a related field.
  • Original and independent thinking.
  • Passion for science.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
